Information

MHA provides two information lines: the Mental Health Information Service (1300 794 991) and the Anxiety Disorders Information Line (1300 794 992).You can either contact us by phone (for the cost of a local call) or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , where an Information Officer will endeavour to get back to you as soon as possible.

The MHIS provides information, telephone support and referral on issues relating to mental health generally, whereas the Anxiety Disorders Information Line focuses on anxiety disorders. All calls are treated confidentially. You can remain anonymous if you wish, and no personal details are retained.

We use an up-to-date database (the Way Ahead) which we have been developing over the last 15 years. As well as using the database to assist our callers, we also make the Way Ahead available to other community and health workers.

Might a referral be useful for you? We can discuss with you how services can assist you. We have information on a range of services including community mental health, crisis intervention and treatment services, as well as accommodation, practical care, law and justice, and much more.

If we can't find something in your area then we will let you know where the nearest appropriate service is located. Contact us to find out how services in the community can either help you, your family or your friends.

We also provide
fact sheets on mental illness
fact sheets on support AND
fact sheets on maintaining wellbeing.
